RACE-DRIVER.NET FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Category: Main -> RD Rules Of Conduct

Question
·  All about RD Etiquette

Answer
·  All about RD Etiquette

Genral Principles
-----------------

1a - The objective is to race as fairly as possible without compromising
or disadvantaging any racer on the track

1b - If an on track greavance occurs these should be sorted out after the
race. Lenghty protests mid race will distract others and are unlikly to
be fuly followed by the important parties

1c - Smaller comments are acceptable but drivers are not obliged to
reply. Many drivers are unable to type a response mid-race even if they
wanted to. Drivers should bear this in mind and not take offence if a
driver is trying to drive rather than type back.

1d - Its just a game dammit!

Non-Race Sessions
-----------------

2a - Timed sessions are for all drivers regardless of pace. Being quicker
does not give a driver priority. The car in front has as much right to a
clean lap without being hasseled from behind as a fast car has to a lap
without anyone getting in its way.

2b - If a lap has been compromised the driver should then do everything
to give other drivers space.

The Start
---------

3a - The start is a good place to gain places and a good place to lose
them. Attempting to gain positions is an acceptable practice but caution
is advised

3b - At least half the grid will be offline into turn 1 and all will have
cold tyres. drivers should not expect cars to use normal braking points
and lines

3c - If a car has a problem at the start and is very slow away it will be
expected to hold its line. Drivers behind then stand the best chance of
avoiding it without having to second guess.

3d - Drivers are expected to be aware of other cars around them into and
out of turn 1. However it is understood that with so much happeneing no-
one can be totally aware

3e - Drivers should all understand that starts are the most common place
for accidents. It will happen to everyone sooner or later... thats just
part of racing.

Genral Racing Rules
--------------------

4a Cutting, Wallriding and other expolits are prohibited

4b If a crash or spin occurs bring the car to a halt as soon as possible
and remain still untill other cars immediatly present are past.

4c in a rare situation that a driver is blocking the track the driver
should move to the closest side of the track if to one side & forwards if
in the middle. Approaching drivers will then know to move to the side
with most space or around the back of a spun car.

Competitive Overtaking
----------------------

5a If a driver trys a move up the inside line other car is required to at
least 1 cars space. The overtaker is however, required to give the
overtakee room on the outside in return. If a move round the outside is
tried the reverse is true

5b1 Contact will happen at times but if a driver knocks a car out of the
way and gains a place the culprit must yeild to that car within half a
lap.

5b2 This does not count if the overtakee did not allow space for the
overtaker

5b3 This does not count if the victim was knocked fully off the track
into a spin. In that instance the matter should be taken up after the
race. This rule is for 'light' incidents only not full on racing
accidents

5c If a driver gains a place or holds a place by cutting or wall riding
they are expected to yeild within half a lap to the other car

Lapping and Being Lapped
------------------------

6a The driver being lapped has a lower priority than a faster car, but
does still have a right to as little disruption as is possible

6b A car being lapped does not have to yeild until a move to overtake is
made.

6c When preparing to lap a car if possible move to the side of the track
you intend to go as early as possible to indicate what you are trying to
do. It should be understood due to racing lines and battles this might
not always be possible on every turn.

6d1 If a driver is being lapped by an active battle the driver should
atempt to let both drivers through if possible, but without compromising
his own race

6d2 If in a battle when lapping drivers should understand that the
backmarker is entitled to a share of the road in all cases. A move should
only be attempted if there is genuinly room for 3 cars

6e1 If in a battle when a lapping car appears behind drivers should give
them room. They have a right to get past quickly.

6e2 Drivers should try to avoid making a lapping move of their own if a
move for position is already in progress.

6f Accidents will happen from time to time. As per item 1c regardless of
what happens drivers are not required to type mid race whatever happens.

Pit Stops
---------

7a It is acceptable to attempt to drive into the pits as quickly as
possible but only if this does not compromise another driver.

7b As soon as a car is out of the pits it is racing again. Normal
overtaking rules apply into turn 1

Rules of the Rules
------------------

8a Drivers are expected to knwo the rules but it is understood that not
every driver must recal every detail at all time. A level of realistic
leanience is expected.

Thanks to Dr Duck for putting these rules together
